In an effort to ensure that children have access to healthy food options as our country battles the global pandemic, the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) announced that they have set aside additional funding and administrative allowances in order to provide students free meals.
“All EHOVE high school students can receive breakfast and lunch at no charge through December 31 or until allocated funds run out, whichever happens first,” said EHOVE Cafeteria Manager Gloria Zapata.
“No student will be allowed to pay for a meal during this time,” said Zapata. Funds already sent in by parents may be used for a la carte items or for meals after January 1, 2021. This means that any money currently on student lunch accounts will remain on the account.”
The meals included in this program are carefully planned out to provide our students with nutritionally balanced meals. These meals include at least three of the following important ingredients: grain, meat or meat alternative, dairy, fruits and vegetables.
While all EHOVE students will have access to free meals, students are asked to complete a Free/Reduced application before October 31, to provide the school with current student information to determine eligibility status for many other programs through EHOVE.
