As we celebrate EHOVE having served the community for over 55 years, EHOVE is also looking toward the future for our students and the campus itself. The majority of EHOVE’s infrastructure is the campus’ original construction, electrical, water, sewer, etc. from the 1960s. This year, old pipes in the Cosmetology salon broke causing over $100,000 in damages and affecting the students’ access to their learning space for 14 weeks while repairs were being made. Also, the sixth water main break within the last seven years occurred on campus that cost nearly $10,000 in repairs, as well as an increased water bill even after a reduction of $12,501.55 by Erie County Sewer & Water.

EHOVE is grateful to local contractor Deluca Plumbing who made it a priority to fix the water main break and pipe failures in an expedient and quality manner. RestorePro of Sandusky also used their expertise to clean and sanitize the area affected by the salon pipes breaking so it was again safe for the students to occupy. EHOVE Maintenance Staff were also instrumental from identifying the leaks to assisting with rebuilding damaged areas.

These and other infrastructure issues have been addressed by the Facilities Planning Committee, a group of citizens from area businesses and organizations formed to continue to meet the needs of our community and area business and industry now and in the future. After touring campus, and reviewing two separate campus assessments by Ohio Facility Construction Commission and the Architectural Vision Group, the committee engaged in meaningful discussions to shape the future of EHOVE’s campus with recommendations for infrastructure, lab/equipment, safety, and business and community access to meet the needs of our community and area business and industry now and in the future.
