Congratulations to five EHOVE Adult Career Center students who have been awarded scholarships from community organizations.
EHOVE School of Practical Nursing student Rachel Weatherbie of New London received the Sandusky-Firelands Alzheimer’s Support Group Robert Raymer Memorial Scholarship for $500. The support group offers their scholarship to a person pursuing a career in the area of geriatrics. Weatherbie is a social worker who hopes to put her nursing skills to work at one of the state mental health hospitals.
School of Practical Nursing student Mary Rose of Huron received the Karen E. Holmes Memorial Nursing Scholarship for $1000. Rose was a classmate of Karen Holmes who was passionate about helping others through her pursuit of a career in nursing. Unfortunately, Karen's life was cut short by domestic violence while she was enrolled in the LPN program. It is the wish of the Holmes family to continue Karen's legacy through this nursing scholarship. Rose has a passion for working with the geriatric population and plans to incorporate it into her career.
Medical Assistant student Kassidy Mahler of Fremont and School of Practical Nursing student Rachael Wahl of Ashland each received the Ladies Auxiliary to Firelands Post #2743 Veterans of Foreign Wars Scholarship for $500 each. This scholarship has been awarded to EHOVE Adult Education students since 2008. The students’ instructors praised them both for their professionalism, demeanor and being a team player.
